My stay at Cape Royale was a mix of comfort and frustration. The suite I stayed in was lovely and spacious, providing great comfort, but the check-in process was a bit lengthy. The staff was always lovely and helpful, making my exploration of Waterfront and other areas in Cape Town enjoyable, but it seemed they were short-staffed at times. The location, while convenient for accessing coffee shops and the football stadium, had its drawbacks with changing parking lots and some areas needing maintenance. The dining experience at Banting kitchen was delightful with plenty of choices, but it was disappointing that it was not included in the hotel and had to be purchased elsewhere. The facilities were good overall, but the management seemed disorganized. Overall, Cape Royale has its ups and downs, providing a comfortable stay but with room for improvement.

The hotel offers spacious rooms at a slightly higher price point without basic supplies like iron or hair dryer but is conveniently located near all Cape Town attractions. The room setup resembles under-furnished apartments lacking facilities.

6.6/10

My stay at the hotel was a mix of positives and negatives. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable, with a modern apartment-style feel, but there was a noticeable smell of drains upon arrival. The hotel offers all amenities, including a washing machine, which was convenient. The service was average, with some issues like being asked to wake up for room cleaning. The location was excellent, close to restaurants and the Waterfront, but the property showed signs of wear and tear. The dining experience was disappointing, lacking a set price and falling short of 5-star expectations. Overall, a decent stay with room for improvement.

Rooms

The hotel felt like home but could use some renovation to match its 5-star status. Some areas looked tired and in need of an update, especially with the strong paint smell lingering in the rooms. On the positive side, the staff was very accommodating and friendly, and the drinks were reasonably priced.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms had a familiar feel, but some areas were starting to look tired. The recent paint job left a strong smell, and there were traces of masking tape still in place.
Service
9.0
The service, included in the stay, was excellent. Byron and Lance were particularly helpful during our Cape tour. The staff was friendly and always available, but not pushy when it came to drink orders.
Location
6.0
The location, while convenient from the V&A Waterfront, seemed a bit rundown. The small pool area felt open to the public, attracting some unusual characters. However, it offered a nice view for sunsets over the weekend.
Dining
5.0
The dining experience was a mix of positives and negatives. While the restaurant staff were friendly, the buffet lacked variety and value for money. It fell short of the luxury expected from a 5-star establishment.
Facilities

The hotel's location is perfect for shopping, walking around, and exploring restaurants and the market, making it a great choice. The rooms are spacious, but the kitchen facilities may seem redundant, still offering all the comforts of home. The staff are incredibly friendly, although the hotel's condition is starting to look a bit tired in some areas.

Wow, this hotel was a mixed bag! The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, just like the picture, but they overlooked the rubbish and dustbins. On the bright side, they are much bigger for only a small extra cost.

Rooms
8.0
The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, just like the picture.
Service
7.0
The staff were all incredibly polite, smiley, and full of helpful advice. However, there was an incident where they barged into our room with a master key, even though we were inside.
Location
9.0
The location was convenient with many restaurants and stores nearby. It's great for a short walk to the waterfront and strolling in downtown Cape Town. However, it would be better to have direct access to the garage.
Dining
6.0
The dining experience was average. It would be more convenient to have a set price rather than each item individually priced. I found a lovely cafe called Shift just outside the building for a better dining option.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities were decent overall, but there were some areas for improvement. The hotel seems to let the public use some facilities which can be inconvenient.

The hotel rooms were good in size for 4 adults but could be better soundproofed as kids got woken a few times by noisy guests returning late at night. The lack of mirror and plug for hair drying was a minor inconvenience.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms were spacious and suitable for 4 adults. However, they could benefit from better soundproofing.
Service
6.0
The service was a bit slow, and staff seemed undertrained, especially around the pool area. However, they did organize a thoughtful birthday surprise with a cake and sparkling wine.
Location

The hotel's proximity to V&A Waterfront and other attractions is unbeatable. It's very central without feeling touristy.
Dining

The hotel rooms were lacking charm and not in the best condition, but they were very spacious and extremely well equipped with all the modern conveniences, including a TV that made our teens very happy after 8 days without one. However, our room was not made up one day, which was a disappointment. The service was trained to a 5-star standard most of the time and the staff were polite and friendly, providing fantastic assistance from the airport pick-up to the drop-off. The location was superb with a view overlooking Cape Town Stadium and providing walkable access to many tasty coffee shops and restaurants. The dining options, although not included, were good with reasonably priced meals available at Shift cafe. Overall, the facilities were satisfactory, though the cleanliness could be improved. The price was considered fair for the amenities provided, but some aspects, like the room condition and cleanliness, could have been better.
